Teaching Children How to Get To & From School Safely
Each summer the Thiensville Police Department offers Safety Town for children starting kindergarten in the fall. The children are instructed on how to get to and from school safely.
The Safety Town Experience

Part of the Safety Town experience involves driving small cars in a small town. The children learn by driving the cars, by walking on the sidewalks and following street signs. Some of the Safety Town topics include:
- Pedestrian safety
- Fire safety
- Stranger danger
- Water safety
Important lessons are learned through music, videos, activities, and guest speakers. Teenage instructors assist the police officers for the two weeks of the course. The program ends with a final evaluation experience and a graduation ceremony.
